September 20th marked the first out-of-town performance for Dane, and it was nothing less than a success. From the moment we walked through the entry way of Sandaga 813 in Dallas, Texas, the vibe was warm and welcoming. The International Talent Tour was holding a contest worth $1000 where the winner was to be determined by two judges, Candy Baby and AK. By the time Dane took the stage, Sandaga 813 was full of music fiends ready for dope rhymes. Dane has a dominating presence during his performances that compliments his unique rhyme scheme. This did not go unnoticed with the crowd vocalizing their appreciation of Dane’s delivery. Every punch line was followed with an “Ooh” muffled by clinched fists and squinted eyes or an index finger raised high to give props. With every praise from the audience, came more animation and fire from the new performer; it was quite humbling. The energy only grew as Dane left the stage. Listeners in the crowd dabbed him up on his sick lyrics and were more than willing to express their admiration for his performance. Although Dane did not win the contest, he won something more important than money, fans.
At one point, we felt swamped. Artists whom previously performed, along with their managers, were eager to work with us. Over and over we heard how different Dane’s music is, “I’ve never heard anything like it!” As a manager, there was an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment. As Dane’s friend, I felt proud. His hard work certainly paid off. That night in Dallas was more affirmation that this is exactly what we’re meant to do. Due to such a successful performance, Dane is eager to get back on the road to share the music he loves to make.
